Measuring Guides

We require your measurements to be provided in millimetres.

We do not accept laser measurements. Please take all the required measurements with a steel tape measure. We would recommend a Gatortape or a tape measure of similar accuracy.

The illustration is a bird’s eye view of your roof lantern. 

Please follow all the steps in this guide as the information will be required when placing your order.

Consider where you want to position your blind (as shown with the yellow circle in the picture) and ensure all the required measurements are taken at this level. We advise the blind is measured and fitted 300mm down from the top of the recess.

Be sure to check that the recess does not taper in at the bottom (making it a narrower opening than where you want to fit the blind) as this can create issues when fitting the blind.

You will need to provide the following when ordering your blind:

• Widths at point A, B and C
• Lengths at 1 and 2
• When the blind is retracted would you like the fabric stack to be on width A or C?
• Would you require the power connection/battery to be positioned at point A1, A2, C1 or C2?

Our lantern roof blinds are a bespoke made to measure product tailored to your exact needs. This requires your measurements to be accurate therefore we advise double checking all measurements before submitting your order.

We will use your provided measurements to make our necessary manufacturing deductions to ensure you have the perfectly sized blind for your home.

Before measuring, ensure there is a minimum clearance of 25mm between the perimeter of the glass pane and any obstructions, such as handles or air vents.

This clearance is required to allow sufficient space for the perfect fit frame to be installed correctly.

Step 1: Measure the Bead Depth

Begin by measuring the distance between the face of the frame and the glass using a depth gauge.

If a depth gauge is not available, place a flat object (such as a credit card) across the corner of your frame and use a metal tape measure to determine the bead depth.

If the measurement falls between 18mm and 38mm, your window is suitable for installation, and you can proceed with measuring.

Make sure to record your bead depth, as this information will be required when placing your order.

Step 2: Measure the Width

To ensure a perfect fit, measure the width of your window from rubber gasket to rubber gasket (i.e., the visible glass area).

Take this measurement at three points — the top, middle, and bottom of the window — and record each value.

Use the shortest measurement, rounded to the nearest millimetre, as your final window width.

Step 3: Measure the Drop (Height)

Repeat the same process to measure the drop of your window. Measure from rubber gasket to rubber gasket (the visible glass area) along the height of the window.

Take this measurement at three points — the left, centre, and right — and record each value.

Use the shortest measurement, rounded to the nearest millimetre, as your final window drop.
